Explore Amber Fort
Jaipur is one of the popular destinations located in the famous Golden Triangle. This group of three cities includes Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. Most tourists visit these places when they don’t have much time to travel in India. Amber Fort is located in the small town of Amer. It is the most popular tourist attraction of Jaipur. The fort is famous because of the artistic and architectural elements. The palace is built on Aravalli Hill and therefore the fort overlooks Maota Lake. This lake is the main source of water for the Amber Palace. The architecture is strongly influenced by the Mughal architectural style and elements.
Amer was known as Dhundar and ruled by the Kachhwahas from the 11th to the 16th century, until the capital was moved to Jaipur. Raja Man Singh built this fort in 1592. Raja Jai Sigh I renovated and expanded the palace. Some of the old structures are destroyed over time or replaced by other structures.
Elephant rides!
The main entrance is at the east side at the Sun Gate. Here you enter the first courtyard and also the main courtyard of the palace. It is possible to go for an elephant ride at Amber Fort. Please keep in mind that not everyone takes good care of the elephants or other animals. There are more and more stories each year about the mistreatment and abuse of elephants, monkeys and other animals. Try not to support these kind of activities!
