Are you planning a trip to Indonesia? If you visit the country for tourist purposes there are 4 types of visa to enter Indonesia. Most nationalities can enter without a visa which allows you stay for 30 days. Here is a list of the four visa options for Indonesia.

Visa exemption

Foreign nationals from 169 countries are allowed to enter Indonesia without visa (exemption) for a stay of 30 days. Activities allowed are tourism, visiting family, social visits, attending meetings & seminars or a transit in Indonesia. A visa-exemption can’t be extended. The requirements are; a passport that is valid for another 6 months and you need to have a return ticket.

Visa on Arrival

Foreign nationals from 68 countries can apply for a visa-on-arrival. With a visa upon arrival you are allowed to stay for 30 days. This visa type is extendable for another 30 days. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months and you need a return ticket.

Multiple Visit Visa

Foreigners who travel to Indonesia regularly to visit family, travel for business or for governmental purposes can apply for a Multiple Visit Visa. The visa needs to be issued at the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate. Requirements are an Application Letter, passport that is valid for at least 18 months, copy of your bank statements, return tickets and a re-entry permit. A Multiple Visit Visa is valid for one year and you are allowed to stay for 60 days at each visit. This type of visa can not be extended.

The following 27 countries need to apply for a visa before entering Indonesia. Applying for a visa needs to done at the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate.

Transit

A transit at Soekarno-Hatta International airport is allowed without visa if the transit is less than 24 hours. At other airports the transit must be less than 8 hours.

5. Once you have finished your application check if your details are correct. Or double check if you are a control freak like I am. When everything is correct you can proceed and pay. They ask you to create an account if you like.

6. The last thing you need to do is upload a copy of your passport and passport photo with a white background. If you have uploaded the images you are finished and need to ‘Save and Complete request’.

If you completed the process you will receive a confirmation email from iVisa. As soon as they received your visa they send it you via email. You can save the email or print the visa and bring it to the airport. Contact the customer service of iVisa if you have any issues. They are available 24/7.

Do you need an approved passport photo? At iVisa they have a photo service. You only pay 1 dollar per photo. Their team will check your photo to make sure it meets the government requirements.
